Extollo International

Extollo International (“Extollo”) is a faith-based social enterprise that is unleashing Haiti’s potential to build a stronger future by training a construction workforce of character and capability, while adding strength and safety to Haiti’s infrastructure. Extollo combines classroom instruction with on-the-job training and supervision. Haiti has a need for skilled construction workers at the journeyman and contractor level. Extollo is meeting this need by teaching employable skills and character development to the people in Haiti that need it the most, those living in extreme poverty.

Extollo was founded in 2012 by Sherman Balch, an internationally-recognized expert in tilt-up construction technology, with extensive experience in researching and developing new construction techniques and procedures for the industry. An accomplished contractor, designer/builder, and developer that has led major construction projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Sherman shares this about founding Extollo:

“My heart was broken when I saw and smelled the death and destruction first-hand. The majority of this could/should have been prevented if structures would have been built to proper construction standards. It was at that time that God started dealing with me about using the gifts, resources and experiences He had given me to help the Haitian people and their country that had been torn apart by so much death and destruction.”

Msaada Architects have served Extollo from the beginning of their ministry providing master planning, construction documents and technical and design assistance to Extollo’s vision of a better future for Haiti.
