Grand Ravine Revitalization

Msaada was asked to provide technical construction documents, including architectural, structural and civil designs for a medium-scale urban revitalization of the Grand Ravine neighborhood in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The project was funded in part by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and was conceived and developed in collaboration with the local community during a 10-month participatory process. The purpose of the project was to create an emergency access route through the densely-populated area while also addressing and containing surge stormwater flow. The project includes a newly constructed drainage ravine, a new road for emergency vehicles and refuse removal, space for public art and market activities, new residences for up to 48 families, gardens and other recreational amenities.
