MSAADA has been involved with the design and/or construction of more than 10,000 sqm of constructed buildings in Ethiopia.
MSAADA’s first assignment in the country, on behalf of the Lutheran World Federation, was in collaboration with German physicians to jointly evaluate planning and design for the large Aira Hospital, as well as Lalo Aira Secondary School. MSAADA made many recommendations for improvements to the design that were accepted by the client, including reducing the overall floor area substantially to make the projects more financially feasible.
Later MSAADA was invited back to Ethiopia by the Norwegian Lutheran Mission to do projects for them in partnership with the Mekane Yesus Church (the largest Lutheran church in Africa with more than five million members). These projects included expansion of a number of hospitals, extension of a Norwegian Boarding School in Addis Ababa, and some churches. All those various projects all involved full architectural and engineering services by MSAADA.
In recent years MSAADA was asked to come back to Ethiopia in order to design a planned Lutheran University plus a school for an Ethiopian expat living in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, in addition to providing design and construction supervision/observation services for staff housing at Soddo Christian Hospital.
